Out of the Blue

Exhibited in 2004 at The South Australian Museum, this installation of both watercolour and sculptural sea creatures travelled on to tour small coastal venues in South Australia.

Crocheted in fishing line, the sea creature sculptures were inspired by Christina's morning beach walks where she encountered discarded fishing line found twined around rocks and seaweed.

As fishing line is well known for killing sea creatures, the subversive nature in which Christina has chosen to create creatures from the very material that takes life, brings a surreal and whimsical tone to the careful observations of her watercolours.
